This week we learned about the rainforest. The kids read the famous Shel Silverstein poem "Boa Constrictor" and used our own boa constrictor to act it out. Some of the girls even became sloth like at recess Friday. This Tuesday it will probably be raining in Baton Rouge but if it holds off we will get a real treat! I'll link an article below with lots more information.
Supermoon Article We learned all about constellations today. We went to Star Lab with Dr Legoria during science lab on Monday. It’s like a small planetarium that blows up like a bounce house. Go out into the night sky to find Orion. Find this fun game at PBS Kids and learn more about constellations.
Ready Jet Go On Thursday we will have a small Valentines party at 1pm and lasting about an hour. You are all invited to come and help. We will have a fun craft, a few fun games, and we will also exchange Valentines cards/treats. We will be making a bag for the cards at school so no need to send one. To keep it simple please follow the directions below. 1. Only write your child's name on each card. 2. Do not write each child's name on the cards/treats. 3. Send enough for 20 children. The kids like to get their own Valentines. Your child started their new homework Friday, February 8th. Please take a moment to take your child outside and look for the moon each night for the next few weeks. Then record what they see on the sheet we sent home today. Be sure to put the sheet somewhere safe. If you can't see the moon you have two options; 1-Just draw an X on that day or 2-look it up using moon calendar below. This is a really quick yet fun activity your child will remember for years to come. There really isn't a right or wrong way to do it. Just have fun observing the night sky and record the moon on the sheet. Moon Calendar |
